10th International Fortineux Family Reunion |
| The 10th International Fortineux Family Reunion was held July 21-23, 2017 at Brethren Fellowship Church in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. There were 80 participants registered for this three-day event. Highlights included a Fortineux DNA study presentation from Phil Goff and a talk by Bryan Winter about church records from Leiden, the Netherlands in the 1640s for Jean & Mary (Pieter) Fortineux, who appear to be the parents of the "first" Fortineux, Jonas. There were also many photo albums, family tree charts, and other artifacts that people enjoyed sharing and browsing.
A new set of directors was selected following a fruitful discussion about working to update the 1989 BBB. The reunion was hosted and coordinated by family members of Irvin John Fortney, Sr. (BBB# 2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3). Our thanks go out to them for all of their hard work in hosting such a pleasant weekend. The reunion was truly an international event as family members traveled from across the United States, Canada, and Sweden to join together as Fortineux cousins. An array of meals was offered and catered by Savoy of Waynesboro, PA. Of note, five generations of the Irvin John Fortney, Jr. family were in attendance: Irvin John Fortney (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7), Maryann Fortney Staley (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1), Jessica Bigham (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1-3), Zoie Bigham (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1-3-2), Taylynn Danzberger (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1-3-2-1), Nevaeh Danzberger (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1-3-2-2), and Zylia Danzberger (2-2-3-3-7-6-1-3-7-1-3-2-3). |
